On Tuesday 12th March Ben Suter, Conservative campaigner for Dagenham, wrote to Paul Clark who is the Head of Environment and Parks department at Barking and Dagenham Council about increased fly-tipping across Eastbrook and Rush Green.
He particularly pointed out that Harveys Lane is a major hotspot for the dumping of rubbish which is causing a lot of concern to local residents.
Ben received a response from the Council who said that:
In reference to your enquiry and the specific mention of Harvey’s Lane, this location is not registered as adopted or public highway, therefore, it is not within the street cleansings team remit to maintain. For this reason, we are liaising with the Council’s legal department to obtain land registry records.
Ben Suter said:
I am glad that the Council has committed to ensuring this site is presentable for the community. I raised this area as a particular concern as many residents had contacted me and cited this specific location as a concern for them in our local community. This shows what work can be achieved for our local area with positive action rather than negative political point scoring.
